Ahead of the April 14th All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary Election in Kogi state, a foremost support group, the Confluence Women for Asuku Mandate (CWAM) has urged other gubernatorial aspirants to stepdown and support the ambition of Chief (Pharm) Jamiu Abdulkareem Asuku, a frontline gubernatorial contender in Kogi state.

In a communique issued at the end of a closed meeting in Lokoja on Thursday, the group urged other aspirants to align their interest with “the collective will of Kogi people” by adopting Chief Asuku as the consensus candidate of the party owing to his proven track records of excellence.

The choice of the people

According to a communique signed by Hajia Salamatu Onoja (Coordinator, Kogi East), Asuku is the only aspirant that can be trusted by the people because of his selfless service to humanity showcased over the years even without occupying any elective position.

“We are calling on other gubernatorial aspirants to withdraw from the race for the sake of justice and fairness. Asuku is the only contender that is ready to steer the affairs of Kogi state to a profitable height and without sentiments he should be adopted as the consensus candidate of the APC in fairness to all and sundry.

“The APC should not field a weaker candidate in the forthcoming election. Chief Asuku is the voice of the people and the voice of the people is the voice of God. As Kogites, we are not ready to mortgage our future anymore. We need to speak with one voice and unite forces by ensuring the success of Pharmacist Asuku in the forthcoming election.

“Asuku is accessible, he is selfless, accountable and trustworthy. Kogites should not misplace priorities by allowing themselves to be deceived by the sugar coated lines of other contenders. We know they are after their pockets but Asuku is for the people and we are for him. By the special grace of God Almighty, Chief Asuku is the next Governor of Kogi state. Let’s win with Asuku”.

The forum with members across the 21 LGAs of Kogi state further enjoined the masses to pray for Asuku’s victory in the forthcoming poll.
