- Over sales of shares to Dangote
Kogi State House of Assembly has summoned former Governor Ibrahim Idris.
SPY Reporters gathered that the invite is linked to the signing of an agreement that allegedly sold the State 10% Equity share to Dangote Cement Plc.
The Assembly is also not happy with the change of name of the Company from its initial Obajana Cement Company to Dangote Cement Plc.
This followed the adoption of a Report by the House Ad hoc Committee on Probing the Revenue Generation in the State.
The Speaker, Matthew Kolawole while reading the resolution at an emergency sitting on Tuesday, said the former Governor has questions to answer on the alleged signing of documents handing over the company which originally was Obajana cement company to Dangote Cement Company.
The House expressed dissatisfaction with the nonchalant approach to provisions of necessary documents requested by the House including Community Development Agreement (CDA).
“Dangote Company is taking Kogi State House of Assembly for granted. Kogi has stake in the Company, what belongs to us must come back to us.” he stated.
The External Solicitor of the Company, Liman Salihu, begged the Committee to allow out of Public Hearing settlement of the issues.
Salihu said the Company is ready to engage with the State Economic Team, the Ad hoc Committee and relevant stakeholders to reach amicable conclusion.
The Speaker while responding to the pleading said the House is an arm of government that has the right to investigate affairs of the State.
