The Bauchi State Government has dedicated 15.04 percent of its total budget estimate for the 2025 fiscal year to the education sector.

According to the State Commissioner of Budget, Economic Planning, and Multilateral Coordination, Aminu Hammayo, “The education ministry will receive N39.133 billion, while the ministry for higher education will get N30.8 billion.

“The education sector’s significant allocation is part of the government’s efforts to prioritise education and drive development in the state.

“This investment in education is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s human capital development.”

In addition to the education sector, Hammayo added that “The health sector will also receive a significant allocation, with 15.08 per cent of the total budget going towards healthcare.

“The health sector will receive approximately N70.228 billion.”

The commissioner explained that recurrent expenditure for the state has been increased in the 2025 budget estimate to accommodate the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage and the Contributory Pension Scheme.

This increase, he said, has resulted in a 25 percent rise in the wage bill.

The Commissioner emphasised that the budget aims at promoting effective and efficient service delivery, ensuring a better life for citizens.

Recall that last week Thursday, the 2025 budget estimate presented to the state assembly by Governor Bala Mohammed, totaled N465.85 billion.

It comprises recurrent expenditure of N182.743 billion and overhead cost expenditure of N113.248 billion.

Sectoral allocations include N69.941 billion for the administration sector, N219.506 billion for the economic sector, and N166.988 billion for the social sector.

While the law and justice sector will receive N9.538 billion.
