The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has vowed to take training of officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to higher level of competence to promote professionalism in the service.

General Oluyede made the vow while addressing officers and soldiers at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria on Monday, 20 January 2025, during his visit to the foremost military institution.

Speaking further, the COAS emphasized that improved training is required at such a crucial time in Nigeria’s national security to positively resource and reinvigorate military operations and other security activities with competent personnel who will professionally execute their assigned tasks.

He reiterated his commitment to creating an enabling environment for training activities to thrive.

The Army Chief also guaranteed his readiness to provide necessary support to enhance troops’ performance. He charged the personnel to uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He avowed his commitment to improve personnel welfare and well-being.

Briefing the COAS, the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Mohammed Abdullahi pointed out that the institution had recently celebrated its centenary anniversary of producing requisite manpower for the Nigerian Army.

The Commandant later highlighted other achievements as well as challenges confronting the training institution. He expressed appreciation on behalf of the officers and soldiers of the institution to the COAS for his unflinching support.
