The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has reiterated that space science and technology are key drivers of national development. This was highlighted during a high-level engagement with the Kenya Space Agency and Nigerian space startups at NASRDA Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking on behalf of NASRDA’s DG/CEO, Dr. Matthew Adepoju, the Agency’s Director of Media & Corporate Communications, Dr. Felix Ale, stressed the need for stronger intra-African collaborations, mutual investments, and joint initiatives to unlock the continent’s full potential in the space sector.
Kenya’s DG, Brigadier Hillary Kipkosgey Biwott, praised Nigeria’s vibrant space ecosystem, describing the presentations and startup innovations as “highly insightful” and proof that Africa is rich in talent and ideas that must be nurtured.
On the technical side, Dr. Idris Jega, Acting Director of Space Enterprise, unveiled models designed to foster innovation, inclusiveness, and commercialization in space technology—aimed at inspiring the next generation of African space leaders.

The event also showcased brilliant innovations from Nigerian space startups, underlining Africa’s readiness to take its rightful place in the global space economy.
