Residents of Ojuwo-Olijoย  community in Ofu LGA of Kogi state woke up to a gory scene in the early hours of Saturday, 1st November 2025, where an unidentified man was found dead by the roadside.

SPY News Nigeria gathered that the victim died in the aftermath of a hit-and-run accident on the expressway.

In a twist of tragic occurrence, preliminary findings by our correspondent revealed how operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Nigeria Police Force deployed to Ochadamu and Okele axis in Ofu local government area arrived at the scene.

According to narrations by the locals, the police officers claimed they were sent to the scene by the State Commissioner of Police.

The officers had a brief discussion with the natives and interrogated some community leaders. It was alleged that the officers demanded and collected โ‚ฆ10,000 from the community claiming the fund is meant to evacuate the deceased for autopsy.

However, as at the time of filing this report, the corpse of the unidentified man is already decomposing by the roadside, with passing trucks and other commuters driving over the charred remains.

The incident has caused outrage among locals, who expressed disappointment at what they described as the insensitivity and unprofessional conduct of the police officers involved.

While the identity of the deceased remains unknown, and no official statement has yet been released by the police authorities, community members are calling on the state government and the commissioner of police to intervene and ensure the body is properly removed, deposited in the morgue or buried as this is constituting a gory sight within the aforementioned communities.
