The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing space development in Nigeria and across Africa. This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NASRDA and the South African National Space Agency (SANSA), held virtually at NASRDA Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the event, NASRDA’s Director General, Dr. Matthew Adepoju, described the partnership as a vital step towards positioning Africa to compete effectively in the global space arena. He emphasized that the collaboration would foster innovation, promote knowledge exchange, and strengthen Africa’s collective presence in space science and technology.
Dr. Adepoju assured that NASRDA will fully implement the MoU’s objectives to deliver tangible outcomes in research, technology development, and capacity building. He also stressed the importance of sharing scientific data and undertaking joint missions to accelerate innovation across the continent.
On his part, Dr. Humbulani Mudau, Director General of SANSA, noted that the renewed partnership aims to revive previous joint projects, particularly the African Resource Monitoring Constellation. He added that the cooperation will help develop an African-led strategy for satellite development and strengthen the continent’s leadership within the global space community.
