The family of a teenager (name withheld) in Ugwolawo, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi state has called on the Inspector General of Police and relevant law enforcement agencies to come to their aid.
SPY NEWS reliably gathered that the victim, a fifteen years old student of Community Secondary School Ugwolawo was abducted, tortured and raped on her way from school.
According to narrations, the victim was in company of her friend, Zainab Abdul, a teenager when the notorious rapists abducted the duo.
It was also alleged that the teenagers were threatened with gun, blindfolded and sneaked on motorcycle to the residence of one of the criminals where they had carnal knowledge of their victim.
However, Zainab was lucky. It was her uncontrollable yelling and plea for help that attracted villagers to the scene.
According to sources, the accused rapists Babajo Danjuma and Mohammed Musa aka World Man are presently on the run.
The victim was later rushed to General Hospital Ugwolawo due to injuries sustained during the forceful act. It was confirmed that she was raped with evidence of sperm deposits in her vagina.
Family sources told SPY NEWS that life has not been same for the 15 years old orphan since the incidence as the psychological effect keep haunting her on daily basis.
Our source who pleaded anonymity said the incidence was reported at the Divisional Police Station, Ugwolawo with preliminary investigation carried out by the law enforcement agents.
However, she alleged that the case took an ugly twist when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) advised family of the victim to withdraw the case or intercept the rapists by themselves.
The victim’s family members further alleged that the DPO was bribed by relatives of the two accused rapists to trash the case.
According to our source, “This ugly incidence happened on the 21st of October 2022 when the victim (name withheld) was returning from prep alongside her friend.
“Babajo and Mohammed Musa aka World Man attacked them with guns. They were later kidnapped, beaten and blindfolded before being sneaked to Babajo’s residence where they deflowered the victim and took turns on her as she cried in pain.
It was her friend’s (Zainab) persistent cry for help that attracted neighbours who saved the victims from the hands of the criminals. They fled the scene and have been at large.
“Doctor’s report further confirmed the incidence but unfortunately the Divisional Police Officer here in Ugwolawo has taken sides with the rapists because of financial gratification. One of his boys told us the sum of two million naira was presented to him as bribe to thwart justice.
“We are not giving up because our daughters are no longer safe in this community. This is not the first time Babajo and World Man are raping people’s children.
In lieu of this, we are calling on the Inspector General of Police to us apprehend the culprits. The DPO should also be called to order against his already biased posture and flagrant abuse of professional conduct,”.
As at the time of filing this report, all effort to reach the Divisional Police Officer by our correspondent proved abortive as his mobile number is switched off.
**UPDATE: The DPO of the Division was reached on phone after numerous attempt on Thursday, October 21st 2022 by 9:31am.
Unfortunately, he flared up after our Crime Correspondent introduced himself.
According to him, he has been invited by the “Force PRO to answer a query in Abuja on Monday”. However, he declined further comment.
