FORMER Manchester United FC forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has said the memory of Brazilian footballer, Pele, who passed on at 82 on Thursday will live forever in each and every footballer.
Ronaldo, one of the footballers whose feat in the round leather game is usually compared to that of three world cup winner Pele said this in a tribute published on his Facebook page.
The footballer who is expected to resume playing for a Saudi Arabian club anytime from now also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and the Brazilians over the death of Pele whose real name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento.
Ronaldo wrote: โMy deep condolences to all of Brazil, and in particular to the family of Edson Arantes do Nascimento. A mere โgoodbyeโ to the eternal King Pelรฉ will never be enough to express the pain that the entire football world is currently embracing.
โAn inspiration to so many millions, a reference yesterday, today and forever.
โThe love you always showed me was reciprocated in every moment we shared even from distance.
โHe will never be forgotten and his memory will live forever in each and every one of us football lovers.
Pele who scored world record 1,281 goals in 1,363 appearances during a 21-year career was the only player to win the World Cup three times.
He won the World Cup with Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970 and was named Fifaโs Player of the Century in 2000.
He had been suffering with kidney and prostate problems in recent years.
His daughter Kely Nascimento announced his death on Thursday evening.
