Two telecommunication providers in Nigeria has reportedly barred 9.7 million of their subscribers. SPY News gathered that the subscribers are barred from making outgoing calls despite submitting their National Identification Numbers for verification. The telcos, MTN and Airtel, disclosed in their recent earnings report that 16.2 million subscribers who had their lines barred have submitted their NINs for verification but only 6.5 million had been verified as at September 30, 2022. Jonathan Owoicho Tunde Mark, son of the former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has been laid to rest in his home town, Otukpo in Benue State amidst tears. Tunde died on October 21, 2022 in a London Hospital after battling with malignancy (cancer) for more than a year. He was aged 51. FOLLOWING the spate of election related violence in the country, the Federal Government of Nigeria has resolved to deal with perpetrators as well as purveyors of hate speech, cyber bullying and incitement. The Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security ICCES also mandated the Inspector General of Police IGP, Usman Baba Alkali to convene a meeting with Nigeria’s registered political parties and candidates to stem the tide. After close to four weeks of catering for flood victims displaced by the recent flood in the state, the Bayelsa State government has begun the shutting down of Internally Displaced Camps (IDPs) in the state.
