The Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, October 14, 2022 arrested twelve (12) bankers for suspected insider fraud. The suspects are: Odeniyi Anthony, Deki Kingsley Onyekachi, Oguchukwu Ene, Elendu Chizaram, Anyakora Uchenna, Onah Kingsley, Akwe Elizabeth and Chinenye Grace Acibe. Others are: Victoria Ezedie, Chidi-Ukah Obinna, Etoh Lawrence Uzochukwu and Udeze Harrison. Preliminary investigations showed that the suspects allegedly stole funds from some dormant accounts in a branch of an old generation bank in Enugu. Cross River state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade on Sunday flagged off the first dry run for the 2022 Carnival Calabar, marking the return of the Carnival since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved an increment by 100 per cent of the annual bursary allowance payable to indigenes of the state who are studying in any higher institution nationwide. (AP) — Two men fired at soldiers on a Russian military firing range near Ukraine on Saturday, killing 11 and wounding 15 before being slain themselves, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The ministry said in a statement that the shooting took place in the Belgorod region in southwestern Russia that borders Ukraine. It said two men from an unnamed former Soviet republic fired on volunteer soldiers during target practice and were killed by return fire. The ministry called the incident a terrorist attack. Wife of Delta State Governor, Edith Okowa, has paid an emergency visit to internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Asaba. The victims are sheltering in the camp as a result of flood which have ravaged parts of the state. Mrs Okowa said the flood is devastating, noting that the magnitude surpassed that of 2012. The National Security Council (NSC) has mandated the National Security Adviser and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to set up a strong team to investigate crude oil theft in the Niger Delta and report back to it.
