A Nigerian lady, Alice Mulak, have stabbed her lover to death in Maraba, Karu local government area of Nasarawa state. Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident happened in a residence behind the ever busy City Rock Hotel, Maraba. The accused had used a knife to commit the crime during a fight with the deceased. The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has suspended its eight-month-old industrial action. Resolve of the suspension was disclosed by a member of the Union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in the early hours of Friday. The union resolved to suspend the strike during a meeting of its leadership that started on Thursday night and lasted into Friday. The meeting was called by the Union to determine its next line of action after its state branches met over the Court of Appeal ruling last week. Nigeria’s Female Team, the Super Falcons has scored high by moving up in the new FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World ranking released on Thursday by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA). Operatives of the Lagos Police Command have arrested one Laenenae Halicani for allegedly beheading a four-year-old child. Laenenae was arrested on October 8, after a missing person report was filed by the child’s mother, Talwa Shode. The woman, a resident of 7, Mangoro Street, Agege, it was gathered, reported her son missing at Isokoko Division, only for the child to be found headless hours later in a canal at Ashade area of Agege. Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces successfully aborted an ambush by Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) Terrorists in a fresh attack. Troops of 21 Armoured Brigade, Bama aborted the ambush during a fighting patrol between Kumshe and Banki axis of Borno State in the early hours of Tuesday. Nigeria’s golden athlete, Oluwatobiloba Amusan has been nominated for the Women’s World Athlete of the year award. The World Athletics released nominees for the award on its official Twitter handle on Wednesday. Amusan is the first Nigerian athlete in history to be nominated for the prestigious award. NSCDC officials decry lopsided promotion Some officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Ogun State have decried what they tagged a ‘lopsided promotion exercise’. The personnel called on the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, to come to their aid by correcting the abnormally.
