The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared all correctional facilities across the country red zones, following incessant attacks and jail breaks in recent times. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says it will not disrupt the 2023 election in Nigeria’s south-east region. There have been reports that the group intends to disturb next year’s poll. The reports have been attributed to a splinter group within IPOB. The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, said the suspended Abuja-Kaduna train services would resume operation in January 2023. The date of resumption has become necessary after the release of the remaining 23 kidnapped victims.
