The Federal Government of Nigeria has procured 37 fighter jets and attack helicopters from United States and Italy, in a renewed bid to boost the fighting capacity of the air component of the military establishment. Beyond the 12 A-29 Super Tucano fighter planes earlier procured from the United States in 2021, the State Department had in April 2022, also approved the sale of 14 attack helicopters to replenish the arsenal of the Nigerian Air Force. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an ex-footballer, Okafor Emmanuel Junior. Okafor was caught at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on arrival from Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Nigerian was found with 1.40kg crack cocaine concealed in his bags after arriving via an Ethiopian Airlines flight. The 33-year-old from Abia State was discovered to have hidden the illicit substance in the handles of his bags. The Police in Lagos State have commenced investigation into the death of a 36-year-old man allegedly devoured by two German dogs in Lagos. The Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO) of Lagos Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Sunday. A group of angry mob have killed two POS robbers in Lagos state. The victims allegedly robbed a POS attendant in the Igando area of the state. Lagos Police command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. Unknown gunmen have abducted the traditional ruler of Owa-Onire in the Kwara South Senatorial District of Kwara State. According to DAILY POST he was reportedly kidnapped alongside his wife and driver. The Police Public Relations Officer of the State, Okasanmi Ajayi, has confirmed the incident. Gov. David Umahi has declared war on criminal elements terrorizing Ebonyi state. Umahi said there will be no hiding place for criminals in the state.
