Former Inspector General of Police, Musiliu Smith, has resigned as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC)

SPY Reporters gathered the former police boss was asked to resign by the Board of the Commission.

His resignation has took effect from Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Our source hints that Smith is expected to hand over to Retired Justice Clara Ogunbiyi representing the judiciary at the commission.

The commission and the Office of the Inspector-General of Police had been at loggerheads over which body has the right to conduct recruitment into the Force.

The NPF had dismissed an advertisement by PSC calling for applicants to apply as constables in the force.

This was after the NPF had protested against the recruitment process. The PSC later suspended the 2022 recruitment of constables into the force.

Smith’s resignation was confirmed by the spokesman for the commission, Ikechukwu Ani.
