The Director General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, Dr Halilu Shaba, has officially performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the Advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Laboratory (AUVAL) at NASRDA’s Headquarters in Abuja.

The DG NASRDA while laying the foundation blocks, stated that the laboratory is part of plans to build a corridor for scientific and engineering purposes which will enable effective sharing of infrastructure, resources and talents.

Dr Shaba said the building is expected to be completed within the shortest period of time possible, to ensure subsequent installation of equipment and other amenities such as power and security within the facility.

He urged all members of the various teams responsible for the realisation of the project, to work tirelessly in delivering an excellent and expandable structure that will stand the test of time.

Speaking earlier at the event, the Director, Procurement department, Mr. Musa James, commended the efforts of the DG in establishing and fast-tracking several building and road projects within the campus of the Agencyโ€™s headquarters.

According to him, the projects which include the CSTD building, Blue House extension, Incubation Centre Workshop, Solar-powered street lights and also a road project are mostly completed or close to completion, a feat he describes as laudable.

The Coordinator, Advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Laboratory Uburu, Dr. Akachukwu Chichebe, expressed his elation over the ground-breaking ceremony which according to him was made possible by the joint efforts of the DG, Director Engineering and Space Systems, the Director Procurement and other members of staff.
