The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Barrister Olanipekun Olukoyede, has described the roles and contributions of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) as strategic to national development.
In a Statement by NASRDA’S Director of Media and Corporate Communications, Dr. Felix Ale, the EFCC Boss was speaking in Abuja when playing host to the top management team of NASRDA led by its Director General, Dr. Matthew Adepoju.
Barrister Olukoyede who expressed delight for the courtesy visit explained that technology is the way for growth and development across the globe, hence no nation can underplay the mandate of a unique organization like National Space Research and Development Agency.
The EFCC boss congratulated the Director General and the entire management team on achievements and success stories recorded thus far since inception of the Agency.
Barrister Olukoyede expressed the readiness of the commission to work with the Space Agency particularly in some relevant and critical areas for effective service delivery.
He said, a steering committee will be set up by the commission to interface with the Space Agency to ascertain possible areas of collaboration for the overall benefits of the country.
The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency, Dr. Matthew Adepoju, had earlier kept the EFCC boss and team of management abreast of the mandate and activities of the Agency.
He said, the Space Agency has no doubt being of great support and benefits to several Departments, Ministries, Agencies and Organizations in the country.
Dr. Adepoju highlighted the collaboration between the Space Agency and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) which according to him remains a reference point in the educational sector and developmental history of the organization.
He said, the Space Agency is ready to deploy its specialized strategic services in some relevant areas and sectors to compliment and enhance the activities and performance of EFCC.
The NASRDA boss commended the Executive Chairman and the entire work force of the EFCC for their efforts and crusade against corruption in the country.
Dr. Adepoju promised that the Agency will leave no stone unturned in providing technical support through space application for smooth operation and effective performance by the Economic and Financial Crime commission.
The occasion witnessed a special presentation on some of the activities of the Space Agency as well as highlights of possible areas of collaboration between the two organizations.
