The recently launched Exercise Still Waters III by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja is gradually yielding results.
The Exercise is to mitigate insecurity especially in the ’ember’ months.
In the latest development, troops of 16 Brigade on Exercise STILL WATERS III successfully conducted a raid operation on a suspected cultists‘ hideout within Oloibiri oil field, precisely at Otuabagi community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
A statement circulated by Nigerian Army spokesman, Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu said during the operation, eight members of the cultist group were arrested in their hideout.
“The troops also recovered from the cultists, one Baretta pistol, one locally made double barrel pistol, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, three live cartridges, one Baofeng communication radio, one binocular, 2 mobile phones and substance suspected to be cannabis”.
The suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation.
