The Abuja chapter of the 2001 set of Biraidu Community Secondary School Old Students Association has reiterated its commitment to the economic and social empowerment of its members and the development of their alma mater.

The pledge was made during an extraordinary reunion event held at Gwagwalada, Abuja, on Sunday.

The event brought together former classmates to foster unity and strategize on supporting both members and the school.

Speaking at the event, the Head Boy of the 2001 set and National Leader of the group, Mr. Oyigu Elijah, emphasized the need for empowerment initiatives for members and giving back to the school that shaped their formative years.

“It is crucial to empower our members through business initiatives and other meaningful programs while also giving back to the school that played a pivotal role in our upbringing. Through student empowerment programs and contributions to the school’s infrastructure development, we can create a lasting impact on the school and its future students.” He stated

Mr. Oyigu highlighted the importance of unity among members, noting that their collective strength is a key driver for progress.

“This is our second meeting in this year alone. This reunion is a deliberate effort to carry everyone along in life and to remain intentional about giving back to our alma mater. Together, we can achieve more,” he said.

The host of the event, Rev. Mike Okutachi, expressed his delight at the gathering and called for greater commitment from members.

“This meeting is a testament to our collective resolve. We must remain steadfast in our commitment to the association’s cause and ensure its objectives are met.” He remarked

In his remarks, Prophet Friday Omede, another member of the association and a clergy, stressed the importance of prioritizing members’ welfare.

“We must see this association as a family where the welfare of every member is taken seriously. Together, we can build a strong and supportive community,” he said.

Former Secretary to Dekina Local Government and member of the association, Hon. Arome Yahaya, urged members to support the association for the school’s ICT.

“The ICT project is essential for the school’s growth and development in this digital age. I encourage all members to contribute meaningfully to this important initiative,” he stated.

Facility management expert and member, Alhaji Ahmed Amodu, underscored the need for a robust membership database.

“Creating a holistic and comprehensive membership database will enhance the effectiveness of our operations and help us stay connected and organized,” he said.

Mr. Mathew Ogwu appealed to members to seek help when in need, emphasizing that the association’s core objective is centered on members’ welfare.

“We are here for each other. If anyone is going through a difficult time, do not hesitate to reach out. That is the essence of this association,” he added.

In his vote of thanks , the deputy head boy of the 2001 set, Senusi Sani, expressed gratitude to members for their cooperation and dedication and specifically appreciated Ms Grace Attah for coming from Lokoja to attend the meeting.

“I deeply appreciate the passion and support of everyone here. Let me say a big thank you to our sister Grace Attah for honoring this event. Let us continue to sustain this energy and drive for the growth of our association and the betterment of our alma mater.” He stated.

The reunion ended on a high note, with members resolving to strengthen their efforts in empowering one another and supporting the development of Biraidu Community Secondary School.
