Hon. Daniel Yusuf, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Kogi State Governor on Public Safety has lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s commitment to education in Kogi state through the approval of over 600 million Naira fund to cover the payment of the 2024/2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees for 18,734 students in public secondary schools across the state, calling the initiative a crucial step toward educational development.

Speaking with journalists in Lokoja, the appointee emphasized the significance of the governor’s intervention saying, it’s a landmark decision aimed at reducing educational costs for families. He also noted that the initiative ensures that students can complete their secondary education without financial obstacles.

“The humane disposition of the Chief Servant of our dear state is second to none. This intervention by His Excellency, Governor Ododo, will ensure that no child in our public schools is denied the opportunity to sit for their final examinations due to financial constraints. What else is good governance that we are all clamouring for?” Hon. Yusuf stated.

Describing the initiative as a substantial investment in the future of Kogi State, Hon. Yusuf highlighted that by shouldering WAEC fees, the government is enhancing educational access and empowering young people to pursue further studies or enter the workforce with essential qualifications.

In addition to commending the governor’s support for education, Hon. Yusuf acknowledged Governor Ododo’s proactive response to security concerns in Omala. He cited the recent establishment of a Forward Operational Base (FOB) and the deployment of security personnel to address insecurity, a move that has restored safety in the local government area.

“This measure by the government has guaranteed public safety in Omala LGA, and we anticipate that economic and farming activities will soon resume. We are forever grateful to the Governor for coming to our aid.” he added.
