The political atmosphere ahead of the October 7 National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) election is heating up, and for Comrade Babangida Onimisi Isah (BOI),the momentum could not be stronger. In a rare show of unanimity, two of Kogi State’s most influential political figures: Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Bello, have thrown their weights behind the youthful contender, giving his ambition an undeniable boost.
The endorsement from Gov. Ododo came during a courtesy visit by Team BOI to the governor’s Abuja residence. In a statement that carried both political weight and personal conviction, Ododo described Comr. Babangida as a rare breed of youth leadership with clarity of purpose.
“As a leader, Comr. Babangida Onimisi Isah has consistently demonstrate a profound understanding of the aspirations of Nigerian youths and I have no doubt that he will take the NYCN to greater heights and advance youth inclusiveness in alignment with the vision of the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” the Governor said.
Gov. Ododo urged Comrade Babangida to remain focused, innovative and consolidate the structures of youth engagement nationwide, charging him to “bring the trophy home.
Barely hours later, Team BOI was received by another political heavyweight, former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello. Bello, who had Babangida working closely under him during his tenure as Special Assistant on Student Affairs, spoke glowingly of his competence and capacity to lead.
“Babangida’s tenure as SSA on Student Affairs was impactful and result-driven. He understands the youth constituency and has the skills to unite and advance their interests. I am proud to endorse him as he seeks to lead the NYCN,” Bello declared.
Both leaders commended President Tinubu’s administration for creating a platform where young Nigerians can thrive, insisting that Babangida’s emergence would further amplify youth voices across the country.
With October 7th fast approaching, these twin endorsements are seen as a political windfall for Babangida’s campaign. Observers believe they could tilt the balance in his favour, setting the stage for what could be one of the most decisive youth leadership contests in recent history.
