Now that the ruling All Progressive Congress APC finally decided to zone its leadership of the party to the North central with the candidature of Senator Tanko Almakura, it is pertinent to keep all sentiment aside and scout someone with deep political history capable of uniting the party to victory in 2027.
No doubt, the zone is blessed with notable politicians, but Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa State is exceptional in view of his political antecedent as the then only CPC Governor in the country that championed a merger which produced former President Muhammadu Buhari and his successor Asiwaju Bola Ahmad Tinubu.
Senator Almakura as a former Governor, a one term Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has already established contacts with either former and serving governors as well as top ranking politicians within and outside the ruling that will help him galvanise support for the party’s victory.

Despite joint forces that denied Senator Almakura opportunity to become the National Chairman because of his loyalty to President Tinubu during the party Convention that brought in Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Almakura became even more committed to the ideals and progress of the party than ever before.
The idea of bringing together the entire CPC bloc in the country to support President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election by Umaru Tanko Almakura is also another strong strategy that only a party man can initiate.
Worried by this initiative of drawing more support to the ruling party, the coalition had attempted different strategies to woo Senator Almakura but to no avail as he reassured them of his unalloyed loyalty and support for the APC.
While you will agree with me that Senator Almakura has no match politically in the entire North Central, If given the opportunity to pilot the affairs of the party in the forthcoming convention, he shall explore capacity that will unite, stabilise the party and lead it to victory in the 2027 general election.
