Ahead of the 2023 General Election, President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has bid world leaders a grateful farewell.

The President who was speaking during the 77th session of UN General Assembly also promised a free and fair electoral process that would usher in his successor.

He said a new face will be representing Nigeria at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly come 2023.

“One of my legacies is a free and fair election in 2023. And you will see a new face here speaking for Nigeria at the 78th UNGA,” he said.

President Buhari further called for the lightening of debt burdens for less capable countries and outright debt cancellation for states incapable of repaying debts; a call he made last year at the 76th session of the UNGA.

He thanked the world leaders who have cooperated with Nigeria in the efforts to tackle various challenges while highlighting his government’s efforts to bring peace and stability to the West African sub-region.
