As the race for the position of National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gains momentum, a prominent interest group within the party, Forum of Addicted Members, has thrown its weight behind Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf (popularly known as Teejay Yusuf). The group is urging him to contest for the party’s top leadership position ahead of the forthcoming National Convention.
The forum highlighted Hon. Yusuf’s stellar legislative record and his unwavering loyalty to the PDP as key reasons for their endorsement. Hon. Yusuf, a three-term member of the House of Representatives representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State, has distinguished himself through his remarkable contributions to legislative activities and his steadfast commitment to the party.
Speaking on behalf of the group, a senior member noted:
“Hon. Teejay Yusuf is a shining example of party loyalty and consistency. Since 1999, he has never wavered in his allegiance to the PDP, even when others chose to defect for personal gains. In Kogi State, he stands out as the last man standing, a true embodiment of party ideals. His dedication and integrity make him the perfect candidate to lead the party into a new era of unity and progress.”
The group further argued that Yusuf’s leadership qualities are rooted in the 3Cs of Leadership: Competence, Character, and Capacity. They described him as a political gladiator who practices politics without bitterness, emphasizing that his calm demeanor and strategic acumen could help the PDP navigate its current challenges and reclaim its position as Nigeria’s leading political party.
According to the forum, Hon. Yusuf’s loyalty and dedication should not go unnoticed. They believe that offering him the National Chairmanship role would be a fitting recognition of his sacrifices for the PDP over the years. They also expressed confidence that his leadership would foster inclusivity and reconciliation within the party.
“The PDP needs a leader who can unify all factions and restore the trust of party members nationwide. Teejay Yusuf is that leader. His track record speaks volumes, and his appointment would signal a renewed commitment to the core values that have always defined the PDP,” the group stated.
