Arsenal scored two second-half goals to secure a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at the Molineaux on Saturday night.

Martin Odegaard, Arsenal captain, scored both goals to hand the North London side maximum points that ensured the club will go into the World Cup break firmly at the top of the EPL log.

Odegaard who went close in the first half eventually gave Mikel Arteta’s men the breakthrough goal ten minutes after the interval, tapping into an open goal from Fabio Vieira’s cross.

The 23-year-old Norwegian was also on hand to repeat the trick fifteen minutes before the end of the encounter, tucking home the rebound from Gabriel Martinelli’s saved shot.

The latest impressive win for the Gunners sees them improve to 37 points from 14 matches, five more than Manchester City who suffered a shock 2-1 loss at home to Brentford.

Chelsea were also handed a 1-0 loss at Newcastle United who dominated Graham Potter’s side to retain third place with their fifth consecutive league win.
