The Executive Chairman of Omala Local Government Area, Hon. Edibo Peter Ameh Mark, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the LGA in 2026 through renewed and proactive security strategies.
Hon. Edibo made this known while hosting the first security meeting of the year, which was attended by heads of security agencies, the Ojogba of Ife, traditional chiefs, and community leaders from across Omala Local Government Area.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in tackling insecurity. He called on all stakeholders—security personnel, traditional rulers, and community leaders—to work closely together to curb emerging threats before they escalate.
According to Hon. Edibo, traditional rulers are closest to the grassroots and are well-positioned to identify individuals within their communities who are prone to causing unrest. He urged chiefs to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate security units, stressing that early intelligence and swift action remain key to preventing insecurity.
The Chairman also highlighted concerns ahead of the approaching rainy and farming season, noting that the period often comes with an influx of herders into the area. He warned that any herder who intends to reside in Omala but is not stationed at the designated forest reserve must be immediately reported to security agencies for appropriate action by the Joint Task Force.
Hon. Edibo made it clear that his administration would not tolerate any activity capable of disrupting farming activities, which he described as the age-long and primary source of livelihood for the people of Omala.
“Our people must farm peacefully this season,” he stated, adding that the government would take firm steps to protect farmers and ensure that no visitor undermines the economic survival of the communities.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment by all stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and sustain peace across Omala Local Government Area throughout 2026.
