The Chairman of Omala Local Government Area of Kogi state, Hon Edibo Peter Ameh Mark has issued an Executive Order expelling Fulani and Agatu Militias from the area.
The order was issued on Sunday 15th March 2026 in the aftermath of continuous hostility and insecurity in the local government area.
Hon Edibo noted that the two groups were using the Local Government Area as a duel ground while the order restricting Fulani Herders to the Forest Reserve has been neglected.
Read the full executive order below:
“I, Hon. Edibo Peter Ameh Mark,The Executive Chairman of Omala Local Government Area, issue an Executive Order directing the immediate withdrawal of Agatu and Fulani militia groups from all lands in Omala LGA. These affected groups are given 48 hours to vacate the Omala LGA with immediate effect.
Omala Local Government can no longer condone the continued use of its land as a battlefield by the agatu and Fulani militia. He emphasized that the Local Government has lost too many lives as a result of the feud and persistent conflict between the two groups.
In the same light, I have directed that Bagana cow market be closed till further notice.
Herders who were previously directed to relocate to Omala Forest Reserve have failed to comply with the directive. This situation will no longer be tolerated by the Local Government Authority. Omala LGA remains a hospitable home to all peaceful residents. However, the Local Government will not tolerate activities that threaten peace, security, and coexistence among its people.
Consequently, I direct both the Agatu and Fulani militia groups involved in the conflict through this Executive Order to immediately relocate and vacate from Omala land in order to enable us maintain sustainable peace and protecting lives and property across the Local Government Area.
I solicit the cooperation of all Omala residentts to remain calm and law-abiding while security agencies monitor compliance with this directive”.
